热带虎乳菌又称“虎奶”，民间又称虎乳灵芝。虎乳菌是种多孔菌科，民间相传是母虎乳汁滴干森林的阴凉潮湿地带而生，它生长的形态类似灵芝，有一个棕褐色的菌叶，叶片下有菌柄和菌头，菌头称为菌核。虎乳菌的菌核一种珍贵的信用菌的子实体。主要分布在中国云南、马来西亚、印尼等东南亚地区。尚无人工培植的报道。虎乳菌是民间传统的珍贵食用菌，它的色谱分析，菌核含有丰富的蛋白质矿物质元素（钾、钙、镁等）、多种维生素、真菌多糖、膳食纤维等。
